Pilot Living Lab 6 – Republic of the Congo

The pLL Congo, led by UMNG, operates within a research station to test new agroecological management practices for cassava aimed at achieving zero deforestation. In the Congo Basin, cassava is a vital staple crop, yet current production systems often degrade soil fertility, increase pressure on forest margins, and constrain long‑term productivity. The Living Lab brings together local farmers, university researchers, students, and policy makers from the ministries of agriculture, water, and forestry. It also actively involves four nearby villages, engaging village representatives and farmers to co‑develop sustainable practices adapted to local needs and environmental challenges.
